- In 1794 France begins to stop losing which eliminated the fear of the Prussians ruling France. "Walking down the street" if you will. As this image left the Frenchmen's minds they began to see the terror as being tyrannical. So the National Convention stopped the Terror and the Committee of Public Safety went away as well. On July 27, 1794 Robespierre was outlawed and the next day guillotined along with several loyal associates.
- The Thermidorian Reaction (1794-1795) was a wholesale massacre produced by the anti-Jacobins as they were looking for retribution for their oppression. This is known as the "white terror" as the Girondins got their revenge, as France was released from the terror.
- The Jacobins insistence on public virtue gave way to the toleration of luxuries and self-indulgence among the wealthy which caused the market place to be ruled by supply and demand making inflation skyrocket.
